Hollywood Movies Based On True Stories

True stories and personal accounts of adversity, resilience, and success are sometimes the inspiration for Hollywood’s finest films. Many academy award winners and movies that were truly loved by fans were tales of genuine individuals. The following are some of the best movies that were based on actual events:

Apocalypse Now (1979)

Joseph Conrad’s novel Heart of Darkness (1899) influenced Apocalypse Now. Many of the incidents that are projected in the moving actually happened to the author. Captain Willard is played by Martin Sheen, goes on an assassination mission to kill a renegade colonel (Marlon Brando). However, he presented himself as a god among the local tribe and is declared insane.

Schindler’s List (1993)

Many documentaries and European films are made about the Holocaust, but there was no Hollywood blockbuster until this movie. The movie depicts Oskar Schindler, played by Liam Neeson, who saved over 1,000 Jews by hiring them at his munitions factory in the Czech Republic when the Nazis occupied the area. Marcel Goldberg wrote more than one list in Plaszów’s camp, which contained the names of those transported to Schindler’s factory. Nevertheless, this departure from reality did not make the film less powerful. On the contrary, the movie gave Holocaust survivors hope by portraying what they went through and the brutality of the Nazi regime in a realistic way, so real that many survivors shared their memories, providing historians with a way to record their history.
