This past Father’s Day, famous popstar, Justin Timberlake treated fans to beautiful pictures of himself and his 5-year-old son, Silas. The 39-year-old father reflects on the responsibility of parenthood and how the family is responsible for values children uphold. In his post, he stated that he has been instilling vital teachings of human value and dignity into his son.

“Boys grow up to be fathers,” he wrote. “I think about that a lot these days. We try to teach our son to love and to respect everyone – we teach him that all people are all created equal, and that no one should be treated differently because of the color of their skin.”

“We teach him this because one day, he will go on to teach his kids the same. It’s a cycle, “The ‘Can’t stop the feeling!’ crooner continued.”And right now, as we all work to undo generations of discrimination that have plagued our system and our communities across this country… I’m reminded today that the first lessons start at home.”

Justin Timberlake also expressed immense gratitude to his parents for, “teaching me those lessons from the beginning,” and also for, “listening to me when I had something to say that they hadn’t learned.”

He also declared his love for his wife and for fatherhood, “I’m grateful for my wife, who made me a father, and is my favorite person/partner/teacher/friend in all of it. I’m grateful for my son, who is always teaching me right back.”

In the midst of the recurring racism occurrences, the popstar reflects a salient point that the family unit is indeed the greatest weapon of change.
